THE ORIGIN OF A NEW SCIENTIFIC MEDICAL JOURNAL

Es satisfactorio identificar nuevos retos en la construcción de los conocimientos científicos en este campo tan complejo, diverso e innovador como son las ciencias de la salud.

La ciencia y arte de manejar los procesos de salud-enfermedad, que de manera continua cuestiona a la profesión médica, para satisfacer las necesidades y demandas de nuestra población, está estrechamente ligada a la investigación, razón suficiente para motivar el surgimiento de espacios de comunicación e información con elevado nivel de certidumbre y evidencia científica, representado por revistas científicas, tal es el caso de "Luz y Vida".

La selección de artículos científicos, sugiere la existencia de un comité editor con capacidades y destrezas no solo en herramientas de investigación sino también de evaluación, al mismo tiempo la implementación de procesos que requieren permanentemente seguimiento y actualización. Se verifica que esta revista científica ha conformado un equipo de trabajo con capacidad y potencialidad de mejora continua, los resultados se verán en futuras ediciones.

La integración de profesionales con trayectoria reconocida en nuestro medio y el impulso y motivación de estudiantes de pregrado son la principal fortaleza que permitirá consolidar los altos propósitos declarados en el primera edición.

En el camino de incrementar la calidad de las publicaciones a ser editadas a futuro en la revista, se debe ampliar la participación institucional de servicios de salud que brindan atenciones médico-quirúrgicas con altos niveles de excelencia en nuestro medio, se debe generar el interés necesario entre los profesionales para que compartan su conocimiento y experiencia, condición indispensable para mantener en alto el prestigio muy bien ganado de la medicina cochabambina.

El rigor con el que nace la primera edición, deberá mínimamente mantenerse, para evitar el peligroso camino de la simpleza y mediocridad en la que suelen caer este tipo de espacios científicos en nuestro medio. Para ello, será importante contar con procesos permanentes de formación a los autores y colaboradores que decidan adoptar a la investigación, como parte integrante e indisoluble de su práctica profesional.

No menos importante es el rol de las instituciones educativas en salud, que tienen la obligación de apoyar este tipo de iniciativas, analizarlas y sumar esfuerzos, para que de manera sincera, la investigación recupere el sitial fundamental que tiene.

Las personas comprometidas con la investigación saludamos el nacimiento de la revista y nos adherimos al movimiento por incrementar la luz y vida que la investigación requiere actualmente.

It is satisfying to identify new challenges in the construction of scientific knowledge in such a complex diverse and innovative field as the health sciences are.

The science and art of managing health-disease processes, which continually interrogate the medical profession, in order to meet the needs and demands of our population. Medicine is closely linked to research, it is a reason enough to motivate the surging of opportunities for communication and information with a high level of certainty and scientific evidence, this is represented by scientific journals, such as: medical journal "Luz y Vida".

The selection of scientific articles demonstrates the existence of an editorial committee with capacity and skills not only in research but also tools for evaluation. At the same time implementation of processes that require continuous monitoring and updating. It verifies this journal has formed a team with ability and potential of continuous improvement. The results will be seen in future editions.

The integration of professionals with acknowledged career path in our context, and the impulse and motivation of undergraduate students are the main strength that will consolidate the high purposes stated in the first edition.

On the way of increasing the quality of the publications to be edited in the future. It must increase the participation of health institutions providing clinical and surgical care with high levels of excellence in our country. It must generate the necessary interest among health professionals to share their knowledge and experience. That is essential for upholding the good reputation that medicine in Cochabamba has earned.

The rigor which the first edition came, it should be keep minimally to avoid the dangerous path of simplicity and mediocrity that this type of scientific stuff often falls in. Because of this it will be important to have a current program of formation for authors and assistants who decide to adopt research as an integral and inseparable part of their professional practice. Not least is the role of educational institutions in health, which are required to support such initiatives, to analyze them and to join forces, so that research regain the fundamental seat it has.

People involved in research welcome the birth of the medical journal and we join up to the movement for increasing the light and life that research now requires.
