ABSTRACT: Acquired jejuno-ileal diverticular disease (JID), a result of abnormalities in the smooth muscle or myenteric plexus ofthe small bowei. Approximately 1.3% ofthe population has JID, of whom approximately 10% present with life-threatening complications such as inflammation, perforation, bleeding, obstruction and malabsorption. These complications are often diagnosed oniy at laparotomy. We present an interesting case with coexistence of múltiple small bowel diverticulum and acute appendicitis and a brief discussion of the common clínica¡ features is given and the principies oftreatment ofthe disease are present.
