Abstract The normal-asymmetric model is suitable when the data structure presents a mode and asymmetry. This note shows the existence of an estimation problem of the shape parameter using the method of moments in small sample sizes, contemplating some aspects of Gupta & Gupta (2008) [Test, 17, 197-210].
