Abstract

Presence of intestinal parasites is searched in samples of flour that are sold in 4 of the main markets in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in 2012. The flour samples were taken on a representative random way from markets of Los Pozos, the Ramada, and Mutual Plan Tres Mil, and were taken to the laboratory of UCEBOL for analysis using the method of concentration by flotation. 54% of the samples examined tested negative for parasites and the rest positive. The presence of cysts of Entamoeba coli in 24% of samples, 10% of Entamoeba histolytica cysts, 8% of eggs of Hymenolepis nana and 4% of eggs of Ascaris lumbricoides was detected.
