COLQUE JIMENEZ, Verónica Salomé. Uxoricide or Involuntary Homicide: The Case of Cayetano Yanamo. Historia [online]. 2017, n.37, pp. 137-153. ISSN 2519-0253.
In this research report, we highlight the need to understand the importance of archives in historiographic work. We take up a docu-ment from the Archive of La Paz, a criminal case from Apolo (today in Franz Tamayo Province) in which Eulalia Calderón was held responsable for the death of her husband Cayetano Yanamo. Charged with uxoricide, her case gave rise to a sequence of legal briefs and counter-briefs, extending from 1861 to 1863, which ended in a fin-ding of involuntary homicide. The research is important because it allows an understanding of penal proceedings at the start of the second half of the nineteenth century. It also allows for insight into the internal dynamics of the family, kinship networks, and ties of complicity.
