    Abstract It is analyzed the role of the formers as promoters of strategies to encourage reading habits on students from physical education institute forteachers (INSEF) through their professional practices and action investigation perspective. For the nature of this topic, objective, problem, we went forward to the fundamental techniques (observation, questionnairies) which obtained results find out that the main reasons for students to read are studies and work. Entreating and book consulting are the minor reasons. Amoung the causes that explain the absent of reading habits we realized that there are many for example the lack of time orthat they preferto do another activity. It is shown that that the theoretical knowledge is just one part to face the demanding teaching practices.
