Abstract As long as a century and a half have elapsed since James Pillans introduced the blackboard in the process of teaching learning in secondary education. The whiteboard was invented by Martin Heit, a photographer and warveteran with Korean. In the decade of 1960, the first whiteboards came out forsale, butthey were not very popular, partly because they were very expensive. In the decade of 1990 they were adopted in a massive way, thanks to health concerns, because teachers when breathing the chalk dust for years can cause respiratory problems. The Smart Technologies Company formed in 1987, created the first interactive digital whiteboard in 1991. However, in the Industrial Engineering career of UMSA, migration in the use of these technologies has not been homogeneous, no longer using the chalk board, 90% of teachers use the whiteboard with markerand only 10% use interactive whiteboards, which produces again distances between those who use the ICT's and those who do not, this situation is known as the Digital Divide, DD Schiller (1996). This article is the result of a study which aims to answer the following questions: Will it be that the inclusion of New of Information and Communication Technologies NICT's, such as Interactive digital whiteboards IDW help or distracted in the classroom? Is it that teaching assistants, being Digital Natives can adapt more quickly to NICT's?. The research will consist of a descriptive exploratory case study, with a quantitative approach to be carried out in the IEC Industrial Engineering Career of the U.M.S.A., with the participation of teaching assistants, through ad hoc ques-tionnaires, designed by the researcherto collect pertinent information to the objectives of the study and that will be processed by statistical analysis techniques, which will conclude whether it is a good decision to include interactive digital whiteboards as a means to reduce the digital divide in the Industrial Engineering Career.
