Abstract This study aims to analyze the socio-economic reality of Latin America using artificia neural networks with a Matlab programming tool. The objective of the present is to analyze the economic behavior, by means of the classification of economic indexes in Latin American countries. The methodology used is exploratory non-experimenta design, the neural network used is unsupervised learning and is called Kohonen's self-organized map. In this way, the neural network with the economic data introduced, as training intensifies, learning increases, and obtains the classification of economic Índices. The results obtained are important because they help to understand the economic pace in the last decade of 29 countries, amongwhích are: Argentina, México and Brazil, clarifyíng that they are the ríchest.
