PEREZ ARCE, José Cristian. Sensationalism in Latin America: Unresolved debates and conflicts in the Latin-American society of information. J. Com. Soc. [online]. 2019, vol.8, n.8, pp. 133-149. ISSN 2412-5733.
In Latin America and much of the world, sensationalism has become a journalistic format of disclosure and appropriation, as it responds to the needs of the market and the commodification of information. Many media that used to produce the so-called hard news compromise part of their research production for adapting to the needs of the market, entering into conflict with deontological values of journalism. The sphere of journalistic production in the information society leads to changes in professional work and in the quality of information, affecting the idealized public sphere and the control role of media.
