    ABSTRACT The main objective ofthis work is to present the Open method Based on Numbers (or ABN method), as a methodological innovation proposal for teaching and learning mathematics, product ofresearch and reflective experience in the courses for teachers in service: "From traditional teaching and learning to educational innovation. Challenges for the contemporary teacher". The ABN method is a revolutionary method for the teaching and learning ofmathematics that expects to set aside the traditional algorithm of Calculus Based on Cipher (CBC). Unlike the CBC that promotes a memorable and mechanical learning ofthe mathematical contents, the ABN method uses an open, flexible and natural strategy that takes into account the spontaneous, intuitive way and the cerebral processing rate ofthe child's mathematics and develops the mathematical competence to solve problems ofeveryday life.
