MAITA MONTEVILLA, Jenny Judith. The divorce of the parents and the emocional intelligence of the students from the first semester of the adventist university of bolivia, 2016. Rev Inv Sci [online]. 2017, vol.6, n.1, pp. 26-47. ISSN 2313-0229.
The objective of this study was to determine the extent to which parental divorce is related to the emotional intelligence ofthe children in 80 firstsemester students at Adventist University of Bolivia in 2016. It is a descriptive, quantitative and correlational research which design is nonexperimental and cross-sectional approach. In its development, two instruments were usedto collectthe information: the Quintero (2013) divorce questionnaire and the BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory (BarOn EQ-i BarOn) (1997). The most relevant found results turn around the existence ofan inverse and significant relationship between the parents' divorce and the emotional intelligence of the children in the following way: when the problem of parental divorce tends to worsen, it also tends to diminish emotional intelligence as a whole, this means that intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence, adaptability, and mood reduce. Itdoes not happen the same with tolerance for tension which does not change in the face of parents' divorce situation.
