Both conceptions of health-illness as mental health-mental illness are held in three approaches, which in turn generate different levels of analysis. In this present work, we review these approaches and from them we reflect the need to take into account a perspective which allows as understand and explain, in a deeper way, the reality about health and mental health, to avoid superficial or fragmentary analyzes that may contribute to the reproduction of misconceptions that restrict the possibilities of social change.
