Abstract

Introduction: The spirit of the times in the current educational scenario is aimed at improving the teaching -learning and therefore it is very important to understand what kind of approach to the study or approach students have higher academic achievement; so that we can understand and reorient processes developed by teachers in the classroom. Objective: To characterize learning approaches with students with high and high average performance of Financial schools at the University of San Francisco Xavier. Methodology: A descriptive study in which the ASSIST questionnaire was applied to 101 students from first to fifth year with the highest marks and those who exceeded the average marks obtained in the steps 2010 to 2012. Results: Students with high performance differences of students with average academic performance because they applied the strategic approach; the first use significantly organizing the study as an important characteristic of those who have more academic success. Conclusions: The high group has greater preference for a deep approach according to the use of evidence and concern for ideas, a fact that shows that the first of the classroom support their performance on strategies orient-ed to a meaningful learning.
