QUISPE HUANCA, José Luis. Caracterización de llamas q'ara conservadas en condición in situ en la comunidad de Asuncion de Laca Laca, Oruro - Bolivia. Info INIAF [online]. 2016, vol.1, n.7, pp. 73-79. ISSN 2308-250X.
With the purpose of determine the morphological characteristics of llamas Q'ara conserved in situ condition in the community of Asuncion Laca Laca - Oruro. In order to perform the morphologic characterization, the llamas were submitted to zoometric and weight measurements. For the physical characterization of the fiber, a sample of fiber was extracted from the medium rib zone of each selected llama. Subsequently, the "de-hairing" and fiber analysis were performed in the laboratory. The results obtained in the morphologic characterization were: the llamas females up to 2 years of age obtained greater size (height at the withers, croup height and body length) than males of the same age. In adults, males showed a superiority in all zoometric variables studied in relation to females. At 1 year of age, the male llamas had an average body weight of 126.5 kg, which is above average body weight of adult llamas in Bolivia, so these animals are ready for slaughter and obtaining 67 kg carcass, meat tender and free of sarcocystis macrocysts. On the physical characteristics of "de-hairing" fiber; the llamas Q'ara 1 year of old obtained a lower fiber diameter and values higher of confort factor, with relationship a llamas of 2 and higher than 3 years old. The llamas Q'ara conserved in situ condition in the community of Asuncion Laca Laca obtained a fiber diameter of 29.6 mm y de comfort factor of 65.9 %, these values are considered by textile industry, quality fiber thick, therefore recommended not to use in the manufacture of clothing.
