    Resumen

QUISPE HUANCA, José Luis. Caracterización fenotípica de llamas del tipo t'amphulli conservadas en condición in situ en las regiones de Quetena Grande-Potosí y Calientes - Cochabamba. Info INIAF [online]. 2014, vol.1, n.4, pp. 54-67. ISSN 2308-250X.

With the purpose of performing a phenotypic characterization of T'amphulli llamas conserved under in situ conditions in the regions of Quetena Grande - Potosi and Calientes - Cochabamba, 97 animals of both sexes with different age and different colors were selected. In order to perform the morphologic characterization, the llamas were submitted to zoometric and weight measurements. For the physical characterization of the fiber, a sample of fiber was extracted from the medium rib zone of each selected llama. Subsequently, the "de-hairing" and fiber analysis were performed in the laboratory. The results obtained inthe morphologic characterization were: the region factor had a significant effect in the animal's body length. The factor sex had a significant effect in the zoometric variables: thoracic perimeter, body length and neck's length. The factor age had a significant effect in all the studied variables. Regarding the live-weight, the T'amphulli llamas of the Calientes region showed the highest value, regarding to the Quetena-Grande's region. Regarding the physical characteristics of the fiber, the llamas of Calientes showed inferior values for fiber diameter, less content of "medullated" fibers and higher factor of comfort, compared with llamas from the Quetena-Grande region. The factor age had a significant effect in the variables of fiber diameter and comfort factor. The new born animals showed inferior values for fiber diameter and superior ones for comfort factor, compared to those of young and adult llamas. Regarding the lock length, there was a significant influence of age. Young animals presented an inferior lock length compared with young and adult animals. The process of tactile and visual "de-hairing" improved the fiber's quality. The Quetena-Grande llamas presented higher variability of color than the llamas in Calientes.
