The MEJOCUY center has a bank basis of native and exotic germplasm, maintained in vivo that allow the establishment of different breeding programs both as breeding selection. To this end has lines of guinea pigs: AUQUI, Rosario, San Luis and Peru, as introduced germplasm has entered both the conservation program as the selection and breeding, in both have been evaluating the response of the traits of interest productive and reproductive mainly associated with weight and litter size, on the other hand the heritability and heterosis indicators that show what the potential of these lines. The design used for the selection program is Carolina I and for the crossing program is Griffing I. In the screening program, based on genetic and environmental variances, we have determined the heritability values generally observed that these values fluctuate considerably in heritability traits evaluated, being in some cases 0.00, indicating that the environmental component is above the genetic determinant, which is expected because these campuses are in adaptation. In the crossing program, the values of heterosis in some crosses show the potential of Peruvian lines and crosses Tamborada to establish character conducive litter size.
