MERIDA, Cristóbal; COLQUE, Mario y MERCADO, Hans. Evaluación agronómica de 116 híbridos experimentales de tomate (F1) desarrollados por el INIAF, en el Instituto de Investigaciones Agrícolas El Vallecito, Santa Cruz. Info INIAF [online]. 2014, vol.1, n.3, pp. 16-24. ISSN 2308-250X.
The present study aimed to evaluate productive behavior of 116 experimental hybrid tomato varieties developed by National Horticulture Program, in agro-climatic conditions of "El Vallecito" Agricultural Research Institute in Santa Cruz. The essay was carried out between May and October, 2013, under open field conditions and under a Randomized Complete Block Design. The evaluated characters that contributed more to variability were: Yield, Fruit weight, and length-diameter ratio. The principal component analysis explained 54.4% of assay variation with the first two components. For CP1 positive correlation was found between variables Weight of fruit and Fruit diameter, both variables are negatively correlated with Length-diameter ratio. In CP2 positive correlation was found between variables Yield and Plant height. Multivariate analysis result gathers hybrids into five groups according to eight studied variables. The third cluster includes pear-shaped fruit hybrids; this fruit shape is the most requested by domestic market, within this group stand out hybrids: F2326, F2310, F2125, F2426, F2324 and F2127, with yields between 116.5 and 100.5 t ha-1. Broad-sense heritability analysis indicates these results are mainly due to genetic component of hybrids, besides having high probability of repeat these results for all variables studied. These hybrids can be established as potential alternatives to imported varieties.
