ALANOCA QUISPE, Carolina; GUZMAN, Delma; LUTINO, Soledad y IQUIZE VILLCA, Edwin. Evaluación de la germinación de accesiones del Banco de Germoplasma de Quinua (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) del Estado Plurinacional de Bolivia. Info INIAF [online]. 2013, vol.1, n.2, pp. 23-28. ISSN 2308-250X.
Bolivia is a veri rich country regarding genetic variability in quinoa. At present 3104 accesions are conserved in the Germplasm Bank at Toralapa Experimental Station from various countries and of which 75% are originally from Bolivia. On year 2010 these accessions were transferred to INIAF without data about the germination percentage each accession, therefore without information on the viability of this material. This is very important and necessary information for the ex situ conservation of the material. In the present study the analysis of 2675 accesions of quinoa in order to determine the germination percentage was performed in the Seed Analysis Laboratory of INIAF. Seed tests were started in 2010 and finished in 2012. It was found that 71.6% of the evaluated accessions had a germination percentage equal or inferior to 80% and that 28.4% presented a germination rate superior to 80%. It was concluded that the regeneration of the majority of the material of the Germplasm Bank is required.
