The aim of this research work was to determine the morphological characteristics of banana and plantain, also identify agriculture and nourishment aspects in San Pablo and Primavera communities, Marban province, Beni, Bolivia. For this reason, Banana (Musa spp) IPGRI descriptors were used. Results indicated that bananas and plantains are importantfood in the communities. Moreover, they were identified as it follows, BANANAS: Musa (Group: AAA, Subgroup: Cavendish) 'Guayaquil'; Musa (Group: AAA, Subgroup: Cavendish) 'Gualele' y Musa (Group: AAA, Subgroup: Cavendish) 'Paraguayo'. Also Musa (Group: AAB, Subgroup: Pome) 'Guineo'; Musa (Group: AAB, Subgroup: Pome) 'Guineo Brasilero'; Musa (Group: AAB, Subgroup: Pome) 'Guayabilla' y Musa (Group: AAB, Subgroup: Pome) 'Isleño'. Motacucito and Morado cultivars were identified as: Musa (Group: AAB. Subgroup: Silk) 'Motacucito' and Musa (Group: AAA, Subgroup: Red) 'Morado'. Then, the following PLANTAINS were identified: Musa (Group: AAB, Subgroup: Plantain) 'Plátano de freir'; Musa (Group: AAB, Subgroup: Plantain) 'Plátano común' and Musa (Group: AAB, Subgroup: Plantain) 'Plátano largo', which is the same cultivar, with different common names. Plantain 'Bellaco' was identified as Musa (Group: AAB, Subgroup: Plantain) 'Bellaco', a plant with big and scarce fruits. Finally, there were limitations to affirm the identification of Mataborracho and Sin-papa cultivars.
