ABSTRACT Taenia infestation in horses provokes malnutrition, slow growth and physiologic problems, implying a decreasing in animal performance and also productivity. To determine taeniasis frequency in horses of public service in Trinidad, Beni, Bolivia (2011), samples of feces were collected from 140 horses and they were processed in laboratory. The method of flotation in sugar solution was used. The results showed 3.57% Taenia spp. eggs in the animals sampled. Anoplocephala perfoliata was found in all positive samples. Horses younger than a year showed the highest parasitic frequency (40%). Animals in poor health condition showed 100% of parasitic frequency, animals in regular condition 20% and in good shape 2.2%. Results demonstrate that the parasitic frequency of the tapeworm is low and that there is only A. perfoliata. It is recommended to apply other specific methods in future to diagnose taeniasis.
