Science, technology, engineering and medicine (STEM) are areas that present major challenges for text editors that contains a lot of mathematical notation, tables and graphs. The standard for e-book content in EPUB format expected to join tables and graphics capabilities supported by XHTML but many reading systems nave not yet developed the ability to display mathematical notation. There are several ways in which the equations could be included in the e-books in EPUB format, however it is important to preserve the essence of flowing text, resizable and easily editable. In this project we tested the performance of various software systems in order to propose a set of conventions for incorporating mathematical content in electronic books written in the open EPUB format using an integrated several of these software systems.
