    In Latin America as in our country specifically in the Civil Engineering career at the U.A.J.M.S., communication has become one of the most discussed issues in the field of education because of the importance it has within the process of Teaching-Learning. Therefore it requires greater attention as a result of current transformations taking place at universities with regard to training of professionals. This document provides the results of a descriptive research about communication within teacher - student relationship in the soils laboratory subject of Civil Engineering career. It is based on the analysis of the characterization of educational communication in this subject, so that communication is understood as an interactive process with three components that fulfill different but mutually related functions; they are informative, regulative and affective functions into teaching and learning process.
