SALAZAR ESTRADA, Yovany¹ and LEON CASTRO, Marcelo². The postman always rings twice, novel and two film adaptations. Rev. Vent. Cient. [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.12, pp. 24-30. ISSN 2305-6010.
Abstract The study aims to evaluate two film adaptations of the noir novel The Postman Always Rings Twice written by James Mallahan Cain. The results of the analytical study are divided into three sections: sociocultural context when American noir novel emerged and then its film-making; afterwards the presentation of the narrative plot and characterization of the selected fiction novel with its two protagonists; and finally a comparative reading of the two film adaptations in relation to the narrative work that served as its base. It concludes that due to the artistic quality, both the novel and the two films based on it, still captures today interest from the audience who, for different reasons, decides to enjoy and to learn from it.
