The lack of In-depth Information in regards to the levels of production and the technologies employed in the metallurgical Industry became an Incentive to run a research project in Tarija, Bolivia. This research is financed by the local government. It alms to design and implement all the pertaining actions for the production of the "PRODUCTIVE BASE LINE OF THE METAL-MECHANIC INDUSTRY 2011-2012" , this hiahlights the day-to-day realities of local metallurgical companies; metal work and paint shops; turners; aluminum carpentries; and foundries In the municpalities of Cercado, Yacuiba, Bermejo, Uriondo, Padcaya, and San Lorenzo. All this, for the implementation of both state and private politics that can strengthen and help in the development of thls field, which is rated as significant. The methodology used to develop this research was: tho partidpative action research (IAP). Each company was given a score card to be evaluated under eight separate research areas. The collected data showed the existence of 420 companies that were grouped into five categories: 219 metallurgical companies; 123 metal work and paint shops; 47 turners; 13 aluminum carpentriss; and 8 foundries, The data findings showed that 53.1% of these companies are located in the municipality of Cercado and a 27,3% are in Yacuiba, 91,9% are small, Only 21.1% are associated, 70,3% have a defined mission. 89.3% plan their production based on the amount of demand, The material capacity in a 71,4% is rated as sufficient, good quality and at an acceptable cost. Only 18.1% advertise their products. The number of first line job opportunities created is 1290; the yearly eamings is Bs 33,263,958, and the average revenue per company is Bs, 79,389.
