This paper aims to analyze the influence of demographic characteristics (like gender, birth place and home university) on job satisfaction and organizational commitment of university professors. Constructs were measured based on validated and contrasted scientific scales. Data were collected through surveys applied to university professors from Economics and Finance Faculty of Juan Misael Saracho Autonomous University (UAJMS). The response rate was 95%, this is 125 well done forms from 131delivered. Results show important practical implications. Birth place determines different levels of job satisfaction and organizational commitment, home university shows differences on job satisfaction, while gender reflects differences on organizational commitment. Finally, organizational commitment is positively related to job satisfaction. Findings highlight the importance to consider demographic differences of university professors, then university authorities should develop strategies to manage the needs of those teachers who experience less job satisfaction and organizational commitment.
