The research focuses its attention on determining the life quality of elder people in the Department of Tarija, institutionalized and none institutionalized males and females, aged from 60 on. It is framed on a quantitative and qualitative - descriptive study, carried out on the basis of a questionnaire designed for this purpose subject to parameters standardized by the systems of health for the quality of life (HRQOL) and studies carried out in Europe, Asia, North and South America. (As SF-36 applied and validated in Spain. On the basis of The EuroQol 'EQ-5D> The sample was estimated on the basis of the simple random formula of Cohram W., among the elder ones in the capital of the Department and the three most representative analysis based on five categories: 1. Physical health; 2. Emotional health; 3. Interrelations with the surrounding environment; 4. Habits; 5. Lifestyles. The research methodology and the applied techniques provided significant contributions concluding that the levels of life quality of elder citizens in the Department of Tarija are percentage decreased and directly related to bio-psychosocial factors processed differently from one person to another, depending on whether the surrounding environment is favorable or not to them, and on the perception the person has of his or her own life. The results, in addition, provide valuable information to the ones interested in this issue, it is to say, to civil, political and professional institutions that deal with physical and mental health and others; it also provides the tools to re-measure or re-think the primary, secondary and tertiary care for aged ones abandoned by close ones (family members) and others (society)
