BUSTAMANTE CABRERA, Gladys. Cirugía estética de la región Malar. Rev. Act. Clin. Med [online]. 2014, vol.48, pp. 2533-2537. ISSN 2304-3768.
Plástic surgery of malar región, or malarplasty is a rare procedure in our environment, being made especially in cases where there has been any unilateral or bilateral alteration in the shape of the malar bone by traumatic reasons and where an imbalance of lateral bone edge of the face is observed compared with the rest of the face and where high inter malar bone relationship defines a typical racial character, which can lead to social discrimination and individual complexes with reduced self-esteem. However, the inter malar bone relationship may also be low, unilateral or bilateral, in cases of malformations of craniofacial development, fractures and subsidence of the región in question, creating facial asymmetries, leading the patient to seek rectification of these dysmorphic using cosmetic surgery. Finally, there are patients who require this, just to reduce the signs of aging and enhance your personal appearance. Complications of a poorly executed procedure can lead to severe facial asymmetries, as well as changes in facial expression by section vessels and nerves
