ABSTRACT The immune system is the set of physical and chemical barriers, cellular elements and soluble substances that are able to defend the body from invasion by pathogens , whether they are viruses, bacteria , fungi, parasites , tumor cells, infected cells, etc. This system is mainly divided into two types of responses, the first and fastest is the innate response and the second the learned response, the same that is responsible for removing specific agents. The innate response is mainly composed of external and internal barriers , native flora , cellular components and soluble factors , this type of response is considered the first line of defense against infection , on the other hand the learned response is composed of cellular elements (some working in the innate immune response ) and a group of globular proteins called antibodies or immunoglobulins , the latter are responsible for the humoral response , one that involves the recognition of antigens for disposal.

Palavras-chave : Innate immune system; Acquired immune system; Humoral response.
