ABSTRACT The kidneys perform several important functions, such as removing toxins and waste from the human body and also maintain a constant body fluid composition by keeping it within the required limits, as well as the formation of hormones. In some cases longer fulfill their function either partially or completely, in one or both kidneys is when they will be facing kidney failure or renal dysfunction that depending on the severity, you can get treatments such as dialysis or even transplantation kidney. An important aspect to address renal dysfunction properly is having the right information about the nutritional valué required by the patient, as it is different in a patient with the disease, one that is subjected to hemodialysis, and in which will be submitted to kidney transplantation. This complexity in order for the quantity of proteins and other substances in the body and form of assimilation they have. But whatever the nutritional support is recommended, all be specified to get the patient to enjoy the best possible quality of life despite their condition.
