    Resumo

    ABSTRACT Heart disease usually are accompanied by alterations in weight and height in the case of children, in addition to alterations in nutritional status. These can be caused by hemodynamic factors and factors with systemic and digestive repercussions which cause serious changes in the immune system, which could lead to death of the affected individual. To counter any alterations that may occur to the body or its physiological activity, in addition to drug therapy, dietary treatment is suggested, which has as main objective, to reduce the effort of cardiac output to a mínimum, in addition to meeting the energy requirements and maintain in balance in the amount of water, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, in the same way, the patient should avoid eating foods high in cholesterol and fat, alcohol and snuff. The choice of dietary treatment varies according to the patient's age, the state of the digestive system and the type of heart disease.
