ANTEZANA MENDEZ, Raquel. Nutrición Fetal. Rev. Act. Clin. Med [online]. 2014, vol.42, pp. 2200-2203. ISSN 2304-3768.

ABSTRACT The fetal period is a crucial stage in the somatosensory development of human beings, in which the supply of oxygen and nutrients is crucial in organic and intellectual formation. The contribution of food from the mother is from the early stages of cell división, allowing the growth of the human being optimally. For this reason the food consumed by the mother, should contain essential elements that allow such development. In this sense the contribution of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, and amino acids and minerals, must meet the metabolic demands of the mother and fetus. Thus, the ingested food passed to the fetus through the bloodstream of the placental vessels, in addition to providing oxygen, excretion system will elimínate the waste producís of fetal metabolism, becoming a true food filter. It should be noted that good nutrition during the fetal period will determine the future output growth.
