Food contains essential nutrients for development and for the functioning of the body. Once ingested, via a long metabolic process, become nutrients provided by body composition, different amounts of energy needed to perform cellular functions involving both spending and energy production, must be a balance between the energy obtained through food and energy expended in addition to regular physical activity in orderto keep the size , composition and body performance. In this connection, it should be noted that the amount of nutrients and energy necessary to meet the physiological functions of each individual will vary depending on age, sex, height, physiological state, climate and physical activity. While all foods are a source of energy, some of them contribute more energy than others, finding between these fats, sugars, legumes, grains and starchy vegetables. For this reason, maintaining a balanced diet is essential to stay active and healthy.
