    Resumen

    Iodine and zinc are essential trace elements considered to be important for the synthesis of substances responsible for metabolic processes such as thyroid and over 300 enzymes hormones, so their need in the daily diet is paramount. These metabolic processes include: development and brain growth, production of DNA and RNA, cellular respiration, thermoregulation, osteogenesis, osteolysis, etc. Both elements are absorbed in the intestine, attached to proteins such as albumin and hydrolyzed in the liver for subsequent use Zinc is found in almost every cell in the intracellular form and iodine is part of the T3 and T4 hormones, for example. Due to the use given to them, should be consumed foods rich in these minerals, which depend on the land where grown or crien, however many countries implement fortified foods, this is the example of iodized salt used to prevent goiter.
