PHILCO, Wendy; TERCEROS, Patricia; TERRAZAS, Katty  y  CARVAJAL, Roger. ESTUDIO DE FRECUENCIA DE CASOS DE INFECCIÓN POR CITOMEGALOVIRUS HUMANO: INTERPRETACIÓN DE LOS RESULTADOS DE SEROLOGÍA. Vis cienti. [online]. 2009, vol.1, n.2, pp. 47-55. ISSN 2222-4361.

The Citomegalovirus (CMVH), is an important etiolOgy agent at world-wide level, the infection can produce severe clinical pictures with important complications. As all the Herpes virus produces a latent infection, with frequent reactivations throughout the life. The intention of the present work is to value the significance of the results of serology for CMVH, to identify the importance of the infection in our population and of establishing criteria of interpretation of the serologies tests and this form to contribute in the detection of cases with active infection and the correct diagnosis. 311 data with request of tests of serology for determination of antibodies IgG and IgM anti-CMVH of individuals with suspicion of infections or diseases were successfully obtained, that went to the laboratory of Virology of SELADIS between the 2001 to the 2005. Of that 252 had results for both antibodies and the single rest for a type of antibody. A percentage of seropositivity for IgG of 68% and IgM of 17% was obtained. Of the 311 samples 15% (n=48) were in acute phase, 46% (n=144) were in latent phase. In the analysis of data according to sort, it was observed that in negative cases and IgG (-) IgM (+), the masculine presents/displays one slight predominance, but in general a significant difference between both sexes does not exist. In the analysis by ages, they appeared greater number of cases with active infection in smaller infants of 1 year and young adults of 20 to 24 years. Was one slight relation with the Virus of Epstein-Barr and simple Virus Herpes with frequent cases of crossed reaction which must be evaluated carefully by the doctor. One also determined that greater number of cases with viral activity exists, between the changes of station and in spring/summer.
