It was conducted a detailed review of arterial blood gas analysis at altitude, taking into account well known variables of arterial blood gas report, depending on the barometric pressure changes at different altitudes. It was compared arterial blood gas analysis data at sea level and reports of climbers on the rise, breathing air at extreme altitudes. Likewise, it was established some basis for determining the human adaptation to different altitudes, the physiological consequences of this, and the concepts of appropriate interpretation and clinical significance of Arterial blood gas analysis itself.
