TORRICO APONTE, William Alexander; BARRIGA CHACON, Jaime y APONTE, Edgar Torrico. CRYOTHERAPY DURING THE CONTROL OF INTRAEPITHELIAL LESIONS IN THE UTERINE CÉRVIX MATERNAL PEDIATRIC HOSPITAL "GERMAN URQUIDI" 2007 - 2008. Rev. Méd.-Cient. Luz Vida [online]. 2010, vol.1, n.1, pp. 16-19. ISSN 2219-8032.
Bolivia has the hight cervix and uterine cancer rata in Latinoamerica. This is the principal cause of death in old women. Early detection and erradication of precurse injury prevent cervix cancer development. As treatment, we must considerate ablativo methods, such as, cryotherapy, this is the main reason because a prospective, longitudinal, and analytic study was made in the Maternal Pediatric Hospital "German Urquidi" to 113 pa-tients with intraepithelial cervical lesión. Cryotherapy and monitoring was made to 40 patients during 2007 and 2008. In order to determine the efficiency of the procedure some tasks were needed, such as cytological checkpoints at third, sixth and twelve months. Besides, complications or side effects are monitored. The incidence of L-SIL was 0,78 % and for H-SIL was 1,36 %. The most important risk cofactors are: early initiation of sexual activity (82,9 % of L- SIL and 86 % for H-SIL), association with HPV in 51,2 % and H-SIL in 62,5 %. The result from the procedure was successful. The cytological checkpoint was normal in 100 % of patients with L-SIL. In other side, 10 % from patients with H-SIL needed a second sesión of cryotherapy. During the monitoring and treatment there were minimal side effects and complications. In conclusión, this procedure is not also ambulatory but also simple and avoids the development from the disease toward cáncer.
