Grapefruit is a citrus fruit of the genus of the Rutaceae. Grapefruit is very suitable in preven-ting the diseases caused by progressive degene-ration of the body, such as macular degeneration or cardiovascular problems. Traditionally it has been used to fight colds and flu, reducing the symptoms of the disease and accelerating the recovery process. It is ideal for all respiratory diseases. However, it also aids digestion of food, especially those high in fat. It has pro-perties that stimulate the production of bile in the liver and its expulsion from the gallbladder. Seed extract of grapefruit can be used as a natural anti-septic as it prevents the growth of fungi, bacteria and viruses. With the present research is to inform the general public of the benefits of grapefruit and recommend its use as an alternative natural medicine.
