VILLALOBOS, Rita and JORDAN, José. MEDULLARY CARCINOMA OF THYROID GLAND. Rev Med Petro [online]. 2009, vol.4, n.1, pp. 30-35. ISSN 2074-5249.
The medullary carcinoma of thyroid gland is an uncommon tumor. We present the case of a 69 year-old male, who only complained of enlargement of the anterior region of his neck. A cold nodule was found in his right thyroid lobule, therefore a fine needle aspiration was performed, and thyroid carcinoma was diagnosed. He underwent a total thyroidectomy. The surgical specimen revealed a medullary carcinoma confirmed by immunohistochemistry.
