Objective: To determine the indications for permanent pacemaker implantation in the cardiology department of the hospital pacemaker Viedma international campaign for 2009. Material and Methods: We performed a retrospective, analytical, descriptive and to detect patients with indication for pacemaker implant, taking into account criteria according to the guidelines of the American College of Cardiologists (ACC) and the American Heart Association (AHA). Results: From a universe of 32 patients (100%) was observed a predominance of females to 56%, the predominant age group of 41-60 years was 50%. The most common symptoms were syncope in 97%, plus 75% dyspnea, and a smaller percentage of the total patients 1 6% had palpitations. The Chagas' infection was the most common pathologies recorded at 100%. The predominant diagnosis was atrioventricular block (AV) total by 50%, followed by sinus node disease 25%, ventricular tachycardia 13%, atrial fibrillation (AF) 9% lower response, second-degree AV block mobits II 3%. The pacemaker used in a large percentage of patients was DDDR as diagnoses in 78% followed by a 13% share DDD with those implanted defibrillator in patients diagnosed with ventricular tachycardia, in the remaining 9% of VVIR only generator make changes. Conclusion: The indications for permanent pacemaker implant matches which indicates the current literature, all patients had Class I indications: conditions in which there is evidence or general agreement that a procedure is beneficial and effective.
