Abstract

We present a clinical history of a 23-year-old pregnant, who was hospitalizedat the Hospital Materno Infantil "German Urquidi" (HMIGU) in Cochabamba city, and she presented a 24 weeks monochorionic twin pregnancy, with Twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), also known as Feto-Fetal Transfusion Syndrome (FFTS) diagnosis with an intrauterine ultrasound scan. One of the products was an acardic and acephalic fetus, an unusual condition, which occurs in monochorionic twin pregnancies, who share vascular placental anastomosis. The pregnancy evolved as unfavorable way, it was labor unleashed, obtaining the first acephalic and acardic twin, the second twin was hydropic, in a poor condition, and hedied a few minutes after his birth, from asphyxiation and extreme prematurity. We reviewed aspects about the low frequency, controversial etiology, complicated diagnosisand a therapeutic management.
