    Abstract

PEREZ FLORES, Milena Beatriz  and  CARRASCO VILLANUEVA, Cristhian Alvaro. Design and construction of a biological filter for the treatment of wastewater from the dairy company Flor de Leche S.R.L through the use of the worm Eisenia Foetida, Lombrifiltro.. CienciAgro [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.1, pp. 42-49. ISSN 2072-1404.

ABSTRACT During the process of making yoghurts and cheeses, a high generation of wastewater with a high organic content is produced. Flor de Leche is a small business, located in the municipality of Achocalla, La Paz, which has been producing a variety of yogurts and cheeses since 1998. It has a daily wastewater generation of 8,000 liters of effluent and 3000 liters of serum, with an organic load of 3000mg / L and 70000mg / L respectively. There is a treatment system based on bio-digesters and wetlands, which present optimal values remo val, but with the increase in production, the capacity of the system was exceeded. In the present project, the implementation of the Lombrifiltro in the treatment system is shown, working in parallel with the other treatments, with optimal results of degradation of organic matter, ranging from 70 to 95% efficiency. We found that by installing a Pilot Lombrifiltro, in which we vary the hydraulic load in 1; 0,6 and 0,2 m3 / m2-day and the percentage of serum in 30, 20 and 10% in the feeding of the filter, that the most optimal treatment and design conditions were 0.6m3 / m2-day with 20% serum, taking into account the efficiency in organic matter re-moval, represented by the COD and the temperature and pH conditions of the water under treatment. Previously the adaptation and massification of the Eisenia Foetida was carried out with its new feed based on effluent and serum. The results obtained are likely to work in dairy companies, without the use of toxic cleaning agents, and that have high levels of organic matter.
