GUTIERREZ CASAS, Milena A. Effect of agronomic characteristics and drying on the Stevioside content of stevia (Stevia Rebaudiana Bert.) in the province of Caranavi. CienciAgro [online]. 2019, vol.9, n.1, pp. 19-27. ISSN 2072-1404.

ABSTRACT The product of stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bert.) has a high potential for consumption, as a substitute sweetener for gra-nulated sugar the effect of agronomic and drying characteristics to sun, shade and stove on the steviside content in the Province was evaluated La Paz, Bolivia. The characteristics of greater variability in the beginning phase of flowering were identified with leaf/plant weight with 23.68 g, weight/plant with 27.87 g, number of leaves/plant with 161.54 leaves, foliar/plant area of 12.11 cm2; and 11.63 g leaf/ plant weight, 14.17 g weight/plant, 100.24 number of leaves/plant, 9.32 cm2 leaf area/plant in the second and first harvest. The second harvest had higher yield weight/plant and leaf/plant weight per hectare of 2787 kg and 2368 kg relative to the first harvest with 1417 kg and 1163 kg. Therefore, there is a marked effect of yield on the harvest. For drying at a fresh weight/average plant of 11.83 and 23.68 g with an initial humidity of 100% resulted in a higher dry weight/average plant of 3.83 g first and 9.82 g second harvest respectively for shaded drying (24 hours) with final humidity of 11.48 and 13.25 %. The highest content of 7.67 and 10.09 % was determined for drying in the shade, with dry matter of 32.08 and 41.78 % for the first and second harvests, demonstrating the ratio of agronomic characteristics and drying in the presence of higher or lesser concentration of steviatos gone.
