ABSTRACT There are various ways in which rural populations are articulated to the use of technologies, despite the accessibility conditions they have. Problems such as migration and the "emptying" of rural towns must be analyzed considering the relationship with technologies within and outside the territory. How do they communicate with generations of mi-grants? What kind of records exist of community life? How is access to technology taken advantage of in the educational, productive, and cultural fields? The development of information and communication technologies presents an opportu-nity to qualify rural residence, on equal terms as in other non-rural spaces. This article presents the use that two communities generate through Internet access; in addition to the attitudes and ways they use to become part of the technological society as active consumers. All this framed in the current policies in the country regarding the connection and Internet.
