ABSTRACT The usefullife of a sanitary landfíllrefers to the amountof garbage it can contain andit is reduceddaily by every depositionof garbage in it. Previous works have estimated a usefullife until 2026 for Alpacoma sanitary landfill, which receives waste from La Paz city. However, the population's growthas well as the consumerismhave increasedthe daily generationof garbage, whichis more than 50% composed oforganic compostable waste. This work objective, is to simúlate the remaining usefidlife of Alpacoma sanitary landfíll using actual population's growth datafromLaPaz city, and underdifferent sceneries of organic fraction garbage's conversión intofertilizer and wormprotein, throughtheuse offamily vermicomposting. In a scenery with no vermicomposting, Alpacoma sanitary landfíll has a remaining usefullife of 5 years fromnow (until 2022). In a scenery where half of the populationperforms vermicomposting, Alpacoira'susefiillifereachestheyear2025,producingaroundof34,000 tons of humus and 2,000 tons of worm protein. In a scenery where the entire population performs vermicomposting, Alpacoma'susefidlife reaches the year 2034 andaround84,000tons of humus and 5,000 tons of worm protein are produced.
