BRAVO, Rosario y LOZA, Alfredo. Pests predators in Andean crops ofthe Peruvian Altiplano. CienciAgro [online]. 2009, vol.1, n.4, pp. 123-128. ISSN 2072-1404.
Predators population - Ground beetle or Carabids (Coleoptera)- have been evaluated in two agroecological areas; using, for one year (97-98), Barber traps to monitor them . 12 species were registered: three of them identified as species, six of them as gender, and three non identified. The three most abundant and common species in the Altiplano (high plain) of Puno area: Notiobia schnusey Van Emden, Notiobia laevis bolivianus Van Emden y Meotachys? sp. It's been found that aproximatly 90% of those capturedcorrespond to these three species, and the nine left are the remaining 10%. The highest population peaks have been registered in autumn (march-april), coinciding with havest season. Restricted activity could have been observed in the potato agroecosystem;on the other hand the population of quinoa and kañiwa don't have limiting effects in their populations. It is assumed that such behavior is due to the growing agronomical labers, potato production and the irregularity of the land. All of these aspectsinfluence the reduction ofthe refuge mainly the two firs species, on the other hand Meotachis? Sp doesn't show any statisticalpreferences for any ofthe four agroecosystems, probably because its fly capacity that makes it overcome land limitations
