    Resumen

AVILES MARIN, Silvia Mónica et al. Relationship between soluble C and Nitrogen Mineralization at Alfisols, Mexico. CienciAgro [online]. 2009, vol.1, n.4, pp. 104-108. ISSN 2072-1404.

Efficient use and maximum profit of organic residues can get with a best understanding of the processes that lead its dynamics. Its low cost and less time of this measure is also important. In this research, we evaluated the soluble C and nitrogen (N) mineralization of crop residues, and the relationship between them. Decomposition was measured in Alfisols from Campeche, México, under different managements, mixed with alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in doses of 20 ton of dry matter per ha-1 , and incubated in the lab for 80 h. The amount of soluble C was higher in soils where alfalfa was applied, than in the ones were wheat straw was applied. Regarding the management of soil, soluble C was higher (p<0.05) in an Alfisol with jungle medium (SM1) and lowest in an Alfisol with sorghum and yucca (S, and Y). These results prove that in Alfisols with crops, less protection of organic matter takes place and as a consequence less organic reserve is present. We con clude that C soluble is a useful measure of N mineralization under the conditions of this experiment.
