The article analyzes the positions that promotes and rejects the evaluation and accreditation of higher education institutions and in which the evolution of the modernizing education policies have a role. It starts from a position that studies the context from the perspective of tensions, where the similarities and contradictions constitute the field of action of the actors involved in this educational phenomenon.
