    Abstract

RODRIGUEZ, Luz Marie. DECOLONIZING THE ARCHIVE: POSTCRITIQUE STANCES FOR ADVANCING FROM OTHER REFERENTS. Rev. Fuent. Cong. [online]. 2020, vol.14, n.64, pp. 20-30. ISSN 1997-4485.

Historically, archives have been institutions that respond to the coordinates of power. As instruments of colonialism and coloniality, where social practices such as elitism and patriarchy (along with its derivatives) find echo, archives have instrumentalized subalternation and silencing practices for certain groups. The essay proposes an alternative agency to the normative discourse of disciplinary practice. We propose here a postcritical and matristic archival practice nourished by the Epistemologies of the South. By introducing the notion of a matristic archive, not only are we encouraging one different to that which is set on patriarchy, but we envision as well, a responsible exercise for co-producing proposals and accompanying an intentional activism that empowers and guides others towards emancipation.

Keywords : Archives; Decolonize; Postcritique; Matristic archival agency.
