Resumen
MOLINA ECHEVERRIA, Gonzalo. MARIO CHACÓN TORRES (1930-1984). Rev. Fuent. Cong. [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.63, pp. 59-66. ISSN 1997-4485.
Evocative profile of the professor, historian and archivist Mario Chacón Torres, at the 35th anniversary of his death, occurred on August 7,1984. His work in organizing and examining documentary archival sources fueled his interest in the history of colonial and republican art. He produced important contributions on painting, architecture, sculpture, goldsmith, silverware, and other arts from the baroque and neoclassical periods, both religious and civil - part of our past and historical-cultural legacy. He also produced contributions on prominent citizens, or recovered names from anonymity (painters, architects, sculptors, silversmiths, carpenters, other architects, both national and foreigner), always backed by documentary sources and their publications. He also had an important participation in the creation of the museums of San Francisco and Santa Teresa, as well as in the organization of the Mint and Historical Archive. The paper concludes with a selection of his intellectual production throughout three decades (1955-1984): I. Art, Culture, Museums, II. History, characters, institutions, III. Archival, IV. Reviews.
