JEREZ L., Limbert. ALFRED W. BARBER (1904). THE ADVENT OF CARS IN THE BOLIVIAN ANDES. Rev. Fuent. Cong. [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.63, pp. 51-58. ISSN 1997-4485.
A narrative where we reconstruct, based on newspapers and official publications, the story of the first car to arrive in Bolivia and the series of events of the authentic pioneer, the German businessman Alfred W. Barber. In the second week of August 1904, in Oruro, he left his imprint, thus ascending to the podium in relation to the ever-mentioned pioneers: the archaeologist of Tiwanaku, Arthur Posnansky, and the Bolivian merchant Jesus Aguayo. The author shows a series of antecedents and data related to Barber, Posnansky and Aguayo, definitively and unquestionably demonstrating the German to be the precursor in the advent of the first vehicle in Bolivia.
